Today saw the final preparations for the Bendigo Rd Crossing Rebuild undertaken. The roadway has had the bitumen cut as required.
We also removed a small cripple in one of the rails that’ll be going through the crossing.
It was pretty minor and we could have lived with it, but it’s much less pronounced now and should give a much better finished look.
We’re now all systems go for tomorrow. Meeting at Maldon Station at 7.30am or on site from soon after. There’s plenty to do and see, so please feel free to join us.
Two questions: Do the insulated joints mean that active crossing protection is going in? Will the crossing be closed and detours in place for Thursday and Friday? Good luck with the job.

Hi Andrew,
Yes, this upgrade is part of a funding package delivered through the Department of Transport for the upgrade of this crossing to have active protection, the lights, bells and electronics will be installed over the coming months. There will be detours in place from 7.30am on Thursday through until at the latest 5pm on Friday. Thankyou. Cheers, Will.
