Odd Jobs week.

Last week saw lots of odd jobs tended to, including the replacement of all tools and equipment onto the gang truck.

Late in the week we set about tidying up the old timber sleepers still sitting beside the track, now that the railway has a use for these, it’s the perfect excuse to tidy up the piles of rubbish timber lineside.

We break it up in the field and transport it down to Castlemaine for light up wood. We’ll be continuing with this on Monday as well as collecting some other piles that need burning and transporting them back to Muckleford.

We tended to a small job at Castlemaine turntable, the end timbers aren’t very firmly affixed to the table and can creep, causing fouling on the abutments. We’ve wedged them back and pin them in place, when the timbers are due for replacement we’ll install some throughbolts, it’s too hard to get access currently, so this method every few years does the job.

We had a minor fault at an insulated joints near Winters Flat which was easily fixed with new plastics and washers.

Next week we’ll try to beat the fire season and get all of our bonfire piles dealt with, most of these we’ll bring through to Muckleford for burning rather than trying to do it around Castlemaine. Meeting Maldon at 8am tomorrow.
